Wandalea (Dittoe) Scholl , age 94, of Lancaster, Ohio passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, September 26, 2022, surrounded by family.
Wanda was born September 20, 1928 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Thomas and Flossie (Hanby) Dittoe and was the oldest of two children. She married Dean Scholl on September 28, 1946 and he preceded her in death on August 10, 2022.
Wanda was also preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers-in-law/sisters- in- law and their spouses, and son-in-law, Larry Tibbals.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Tibbals of Findlay, Ohio and Deanna (Larry) Ward of Findlay, Ohio, one granddaughter, Heather Redemann of Dallas, North Carolina, and three great-grandchildren, River Redemann, Sylvan Redemann, and Juniper Redemann. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Quick of Lancaster, Ohio. Additionally she will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Wanda graduated from Rushcreek Memorial High School in Bremen Ohio in 1946. She married Dean Scholl on September 28, 1946. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in 2021. Wanda's working career began at Standard Glass in Bremen, Ohio. She then chose to stay at home and raise their two daughters. The family moved to Columbus, Ohio and several years later Wanda accepted a job at Longs Bookstore in Columbus. She continued to work there for over 25 years and retired in 1989. Shortly after retirement they moved to Lancaster, Ohio to be closer to the Bremen area again. Wanda was a member of the Bremen United Methodist Church, member of the Eastern Stars, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years.
Wanda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Family came first and her unconditional love was evident through her kind, nurturing, and supportive nature. During her later years she especially enjoyed time with her granddaughter and great-grandchildren. Over the years some of her favorite past times were bowling, card playing with family/friends, reading, shopping, traveling with Dean to various American Legion events, and spending time with family.
The family extends a special appreciation to the caregivers that provided care and support in the home setting these last several years. A special thanks to the caregivers this past year that provided services with such compassion, respect, and dignity, In addition a thank you to the services provided by Fairhope Hospice & Palliative Care.
Funeral services will be held at Morgan Funeral Home, Bremen on Wednesday, October 5th at 11 AM with Pastor Linda Ward officiating. A visitation will take place from 9:30 AM till time of service at 11 AM. Following services burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you do a good deed for a friend or neighbor in Wanda's honor. If you choose to make a contribution in Wanda's honor, consider a charity close to your heart. Contributions may also be made to Fairhope Hospice & Palliative Care, Lancaster , Ohio.
