Thompson “Tom” Dee Turner, 83, of Bremen, died peacefully at his home on Friday, February 3, 2023. He was born February 5, 1939 in South Bloomfield, Ohio. He was raised in Lockborne and moved to the Bremen area in 1951. He attended Rushcreek Memorial High School through 11th grade and graduated from Junction City High School, Class of 1957. Tom worked for Modiglass Fiber and Superior Fibers for 42 years where he was foreman for 36 years. Tom attended Calvary United Methodist Church where he was President of Trustees for 30+ years and Council President for 20 years under 7 pastors.
Tom coached Little League and Pony League baseball for 15+ years and was President of the Bremen PeeWee Association. He loved watching his grandsons play ball. Tom would say that not many grandpas’ can say he had 2 grandsons that rushed for 1000 yards each in their high school football careers.
Tom is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joyce, the love of his life, whom he married May 21, 1960; sons, Robert (Tammy) and Tedd (Kelly) Turner; grandsons, Robert (Alisha), Tom (Jo) and Tyler (Holly); great-grandchildren, Tommy, Taylor, Luke, Brandon, Thomas, Navie, Tate, Heidi, Harper, Emma and J J; step-brother, Don (Rita) Nace of Junction City; nieces, Joy Barnhart and Kay Stickdorn. Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Annetta Nace and step-father, Pappy Nace; infant daughter, Donna; brothers, Victor and Bruce; step-brothers, Bob, Jim, Charles, Jerry and Bill; and step-sisters, Mary, Nellie, Dorothy and Betty.
A time to visit with Tom’s family will be Monday, Feb. 6 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM at the Morgan Funeral Home, Bremen. Funeral services will take place Tuesday at 10 AM at Calvary United Methodist Church, Bremen with Pastor Paul Wymer officiating.
