Theodore (Ted) Forsythe, 88, of Bremen passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022. He was born April 25, 1934 to the late Cloyd and Edith (Nutter) Forsythe. Ted grew up on a farm near Junction City, and later purchased a farm of his own near his birthplace. As a young man, Ted served in the Army in California, working on tanks. He began working at McAuley Manufacturing in Bremen while in his teens, and returned to work there after his time in the service. Ted was a “company man” in every sense, remaining at the factory for over 47 years. He retired in 1997 to become a full-time grandpa.
Ted married the love of his life, Mary Jane McLaughlin, on September 19, 1959. Together they enjoyed hunting, fishing, tennis, golf, and traveling. In their younger days in Shawnee, they even owned a soda shop called the Elodi, and they both enjoyed reminiscing about those days.
Ted was a devoted father to his daughter, Tina Lee (Scott) Johns, and dearly loved his grandsons, Trent and Ben. He was extremely proud of them, and enjoyed watching them in their sports and musical events. He was most proud of their academic achievements. Ted is survived by his daughter and her family, many nieces and nephews, and special friends the Don Ankrom family. All will miss him and remember him fondly. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, his parents, and siblings Cletus (Barney), Betty, Cloyd (Junior), and infant sister, Lila Lou. Ted’s family would like to thank his niece, Becky Snider, and his long-time caregiver, Joan Dawson, for their dedication and love. We would also like to thank Alivia Au and Carrie McCandlish for their help in Ted’s later years. Ted was blessed with wonderful friends, especially the guys at “the barn” where he enjoyed the Thursday afternoon meetings for many years. They were like family to him.
A time to visit with Ted’s family will be Monday, June 20 from 5-8pm at the Morgan Funeral Home, Bremen. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10am in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Ted’s memory to Bremen United Methodist Church, PO Box 122, Bremen OH 43107 or online at bremenumc.umcchurches.org.
