Shirley Jo Gibson McClelland, 69, passed away suddenly at her home on Friday, September 22nd, 2023. She was born in Morristown, New Jersey to the late Frank Fatio Gibson III and Florence (Rafter) Gibson.
Shirley is survived by her former spouse, Scott McClelland; children, Addy (Danny) Madorsky, Ian (Amanda Mack) McClelland, and Hannah (Kurt Schenkel); siblings Frank (Sharon) Gibson, Nancy Auger, Kathy (Don) Maloney, Brian (Donna) Gibson; and grandchildren Marlon, Nathan, Kenzli, Brecken, Bennett and Emrick; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends that were as close to her as family. She was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Gibson in 1978; and brother-in-law, David Auger in 2019.
Shirley will be celebrated as a yoga teacher, organic gardener, musician, artist, mother, animal lover, mycologists, and best friend. At her core, she was a lover of nature, a healer and nurturer. She expressed love through the amazing meals she made, welcoming all into her home which reflected her love of beauty and color.
With “Pura Vida” she has embraced life to the fullest, and touched many lives in meaningful ways. She built her life around conserving and protecting the environment, women’s issues, and supporting education and the arts, both locally and in Central / South America.
