Ruth Reedy, aka Ruthie, 67, of Hide-Away-Hills, OH, passed away on December 17, 2020, at Fairhope Hospice & Palliative Care, home of the Pickering House. She was born on February 8, 1953, to the late Elmer Williams and Myrtle (Ira) Plummer of Friars Hill, West Virginia.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Reedy. He was the love of her life, as she was his. They met in 2000 and were married on November 17, 2008. She was a devoted wife, Momma, and Memaw/Grams. Anyone who met her or heard of her will tell you she was the sweetest person.
Ruthie is also survived by her best friend and sister, Linda (Don) Downhour, sister, Iris Plummer, brother, Perry (Jean) Williams, special niece Jackie (Scott) Dennison and sons, Tyler and Austin, special nephew Derek Rose, and many more family members whom she loved dearly.
She leaves behind her loving sons, James (Elaine) Swartz and Shane (fiancée Michelle Carter) Ellis, and her daughters Jennifer (fiancé Dale Wellman) Reedy Byers, and Kristi Reedy Kenyon. In addition, she is survived by the following grandchildren whom she loved beyond measure…Morgan Swartz, Connor Swartz, Charlotte Ellis, Nicole Byers Winegardner, Natalie Byers, Keri Byers, Allie (Travis) Thomas, Shaina (Nathan) Odom, Chase McDougall, and Westin (Grace) Kenyon. She was blessed with 6 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Carolyn McMillion, and brothers Layton, Philip, Don, and Albert.
Ruthie worked as a waitress for many years. In addition, she worked with wonderful people for the Lancaster City School District until her retirement in 2016.
Ruthie loved her family more than anything. She enjoyed her beautiful home and life on the lake with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her texts that always ended with “Love you, XOXO” and her phone calls with “Muah” are cherished.
There is no service as cremation has taken place per her request. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and staff who cared for her at FMC and the Pickering House. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations in her name to Fairhope to assist this great organization in their quest to help others.
