Rossie Elmer Cobb died February 10, 2024 at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living in Dacula, GA. He was 92.

Ross was born July 5,1931 in Belgrove, WV to Early and Martha Field Cobb. He was a graduate of Ripley (WV) High School, a standout football player, named their first Mr. Viking in 1948 and honored in his later years at several homecoming games. Ross married Eva Lurline Garretson of Ravenswood, WV in 1951 and they had two children, Steve and Brenda. He served the U.S. Army (1952-54) during the Korean War as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal specialist in Trieste, Italy and rose to the rank of Sergeant. He was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Ross was a lithographer at Warner P. Simpson Printing Company for 36 years before he and Eva retired to their farm in Junction City. Ross was a member of Salem Chapel United Brethren Church, Hilliard Heights Raiders baseball team coach and an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Ross is survived by his wife, Eva, of Dacula, GA; his son, Steve (Laura) Cobb of Phoenix, AZ and his daughter, Brenda Jones of Junction City; five grandchildren, Kristi Thomas, Venita Jolie, Brian Stearns, Gabriella Jones, Rachel Jones; and five great-grandchildren, Alyssa Stearns, Lydia Stearns, Zachary Stearns, Kendall Wilkins, Taylor Silock. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Dessie, Delphia, Dorothy, Opal, Betty, and Ruth; and brothers, Robert, Dennis, Jerry and Bernard.

Visitations will take place from 5 – 8 pm on Friday, March 1 at Morgan Funeral Home in Bremen, OH and at Salem Chapel United Brethren Church in Junction City, OH from 9 -11 am on Saturday, March 2.

Funeral services begin at Salem Chapel United Brethren Church on Saturday, March 2 at 11 am. Graveside services and military honors will follow at Salem Chapel Cemetery.
