Rose Herges, 47, of Somerset, Ohio was called home to Jesus on March 26, 2025. Born on November 28, 1977, in Zanesville Ohio, Rose was the daughter of Duane and the late Linda Conway (Moore).
Rose married her high school sweetheart, Chris Herges, on June 6th, 1997. Rose had a special spot in her heart caring for children. She enjoyed teaching at Little Learners Preschool. Once Rose and Chris had children, she began devoting her life to her family and after a time of teaching she began staying home with her children, devoting her life to caring for her home and family. Rose’s passion for her family and for Jesus were unmatched.
Outside of the house, Rose enjoyed camping and traveling, always telling others to “take the trip, and make the memory”. She had many simple pleasures, like listening to 89.3 The River, watching movies with her family, and talking for hours with an old friend she ran into at the Kroger. Rose never met a stranger and always showed kindness to everyone she met.
Rose also had a fondness for classic cartoons, like Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake, and Snoopy, toting her cups, bags or coolers of each (which were jokingly referred to by her children as her “snacker packers”), on camping trips and family outings. Of all the family outings she went on, Rose especially enjoyed watching firework celebrations, making it a point to go to the Somerset Community Celebration every year for the fourth of July, along with any other fireworks shows she could fit on the giant calendar she kept by the door.
Rose is survived by her husband of 27 years, Chris Herges; their three children, Dakota Herges, Derek (Destiny) Herges, and Darcie (Dakota) Simms; sisters, Karen (Curtis) Shonk, and Lora (Chris) Riffle; and her father, Duane Conway. Rose also had a deep love for animals, and is also survived by her cats, Gus, Jinx, Maple and Simon; dogs, Rosco and Ruffles; as well as her grand-cats Crunch, Harmonica, Nemo, Penelope; and her grand-dog, Biscuit. Rose also had countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who were blessed to have her in their life. She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Conway; and an unborn child, both of whom she is now joyfully reunited.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Somerset Community Celebration on behalf of Rose, so that others may continue to enjoy the celebration that brought her so much joy.
