Roscoe Lee “Rock” Harmon, 83, a life-long resident of Bremen died Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster. He was born November 6, 1929 in Lancaster, Ohio to Charles Harold and Edna Gertrude (Brown) Harmon. He retired from Penn Central/Conrail Railroad with 30 years of service and had worked at Bremco Manufacturing. Rock was also an accomplished woodworker and built custom cabintry for many years. He was a 1947 graduate of Rushcreek Memorial High School, a member of the Bremen United Methodist Church and an active member of the Bremen Community by serving on the town council and as a volunteer firefighter Rock also volunteered his time as a Cub Scout Master and a pee wee football coach. His favorite hobby was trapshooting. Rock is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ina Mae (Hartman) Harmon, whom he married on June 26, 1948; three children: Larry (Martha) Harmon, Russell Harmon, Linda Harmon Baughman; niece, Karen (Mike) Purcell (who was also raised by Rock and Ina); 6 grandchildren: Shawn, Brandon (Kristin), Emilee, Chuck (Stephanie), Holly (Jeremiah) and Elizabeth; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings: Marilyn (Harold) Hockman, Tom (Polli) Harmon, Marcella (Paul) List, Rosalee (Mike) Imbler and John (Linda) Harmon; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Margaret "Peg" (Don) Swisher, Harold (Ruth) Harmon and Carl (Phyllis) Harmon. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 12th at 10 AM in the Bremen United Methodist Church, 205 North Walnut Street with nephews, Greg and Doug Hockman officiating. A time to visit with family will take place one hour prior to services. Graveside services will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Rock’s memory to the Bremen United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
