Dad carried this picture of our mother in his wallet since 1949. She was a beautiful, caring woman. She taught us how to sew, cook, clean, have fun and most importantly how to take care of each other. She was there when we needed praise, she was there when we needed help, she was there when we needed disciplined – she was always there for us. Rita was born on December 26, 1931 in Bremen the daughter of the late Herbie and Lou Ellen (Ashbaugh) Noll. She passed on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Heartland-Fairfield Nursing Home. She graduated from Rushcreek Memorial High School in 1949 and graduated from cosmetology school a year later. Rita married Ted Courtright in 1950. She was a stay-at-home mother who enjoyed working for the Fairfield Union Music and Athletic Boosters. She bowled for the athletic boosters. Rita belonged to the Rushville Lioness Club and was a longtime courier for the Bremen Bank. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bremen. Rita is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ted; children, Susie (Rodney) Hambel, Teresa (Jim) Henry, Chris (Bev) Courtright, Mike (Doris) Courtright, Tracey Friesner (Dean Walker), and Stacey (Jay) Buckalew; grandchildren, Andy and Rodney Alan Hambel, Nicole Spires Robey, Jennifer Bryant, Robbie Henry, Jesse Courtright, Nick and Amber Grandominico, Ashley and Derek Buckalew; great-grandchildren, Hope Jacobson, Luke Wood, Megan Bryant, Peyton Courtright and Ryne Payne; brother, James (Catherine) Noll and sister, Colletta Thompson. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Chuck and Donnie Noll. Rita enjoyed time spent with she and Ted’s gang of friends, Junior and Donna Burnworth, Fred and Betty Love, Marvin and Louise Eyman, Francis and Juanita Bope. A visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Morgan Funeral Home, 124 Fort Street, Bremen. Funeral Mass will be held Monday at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bremen with Father Thomas Kessler officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Many thanks to the staff at Heartland for their loving care and concern. Contributions may be made in Rita’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
