Phyllis E. Smith,82, of Lancaster, Ohio passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Fairfield Medical Center after a long battle of kidney disease. She was born on October 1, 1940 in Basil, Ohio to Pearl E. and Eudella M. Lattimer. She graduated in 1958 from Rushville Union High School. In 1959, she married her high school sweetheart, James R. Smith. She was a lifelong homemaker, enjoyed her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and singing in the church choir.
Phyllis is survived by her four children, Jeff (Barb) Smith, Kevin (Christy) Smith, Lori (Todd) Householder, all local residents and Chad (Amie) Smith of Dandridge, TN; 11 grandchildren; Eric, Andy, Nick, Lindsey, Jenna, Zack, Ross, Tyler, Alyssa, Sophia and Sabrina; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Gwendola Cummans and Priscilla Singer; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; grandson-in-law, Joseph Amabeli; father and mother-in-law, Pearl and Clarisa Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Juanita (Henry) Smith; brothers-in-law, Rev. Donald Cummans and Don Singer.
Friends may call between the hours of 10 am and 12 noon on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Shining Light Community Church, 1868 E. Main Street, Lancaster. Funeral services will follow at noon with Pastor Dave Hughes officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Vijaya Venkataraman (Dr. V) for her many years of dedicated care for our mother, Best EMS (Tom & Crew) for transporting her to dialysis the past 3 years and going above and beyond for her. And last, but not least the Dialysis team of professionals at American Renal Associates for giving her excellent care during dialysis.
