Paul Clement Schmeltzer, 98, of Bremen, was born May 30, 1919 in Hocking County, Ohio and went peacefully to be with our mother, Helen on Monday, December 25, 2017.
Paul was a graduate of Logan High School. He was a retired carpenter, a veteran of the United States Army serving in WWII, a member of the American Legion, Oscar McVeigh Post 20, Bremen and St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bremen. He was blessed to have lived all but the last few days of his life independently at his home.
Paul is survived by his children, Sue (Mike) Burnworth, Tom (Pam), Ed (Julie) and Janet (Steve Brown); grandchildren, Amy (Jason) Shick, Carrie (Brian) Kessler, Jennifer (Josh) Peters and Kyle (Erin) Schmeltzer; great grandchildren, Madelyn and Natalie Shick, Megan, Emilie and Kaitlyn Kessler, Braelynn, Hadleigh, Case and Canaan Peters and Wesley Schmeltzer; sisters-in-law, Rita Kelley and Lois Boch; and many nieces and nephews too numerous to list. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Boch Schmeltzer; parents, Thomas C. and Ida Louise (Savoy) Schmeltzer; brothers, Robert, Earl (Rosie), Bernard “Bill” (Cecilia) and Harold (Erma); and sister, Louise (Ray) Miller.

A time to visit with Paul’s family will be Friday from 4 – 8 PM at the Morgan Funeral Home, Bremen. Funeral mass will take place Saturday at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bremen. Graveside and military honors will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
