Myrtle Ilene Spangler, 98, of Bremen, died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the Pickering House. She was born October 16, 1916 in Athens County, Ohio the daughter of John and Alice Leora (Rutter) South. Myrtle was a member of the Bible Holiness Church in Bremen from its’ beginning in 1944 and was generous in giving of her tithes and talents to the church and to missions.
She is survived by 5 sons, Ron, Terry, Rick (Carol), Don (Laine) and Clint (Debbie) Spangler; 6 daughters, Carolyn (R.C.) Sowders, Linda Wright, Evelyn Brandenburger, Kathy (Greg) Shivley, Alice (Jeff) Self and Bessie (Marvin) Shipman; brother-in-law, Carl Grisak; 50 grandchildren; 90 great-grandchildren; 37 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Foster T. Spangler, December 5, 1987; 4 sons, Jack, Jim, Larry and George Spangler; 4 brothers; 4 sisters; 5 grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson.
Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Morgan Funeral Home, Bremen. Funeral services will take place Tuesday at 11 AM at the Bible Holiness Church, Bremen with her grandson, Rev. Brian Spangler officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Myrtle’s memory to the Pickering House, 282 Sells Road, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
