Michael A. Friel, 88, of Bremen, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017 at Fairfield Medical Center. He was born July 5, 1928 to Celestine and Mary Friel.
Mike was a 1946 graduate of New Lexington High School. He had worked 28 years at Ludiwici Tile Plant, New Lex, then for a time at Diamond Power before ending his working career at Anchor Hocking, Bremen. He was a member of the Bremen Jerusalem Church, Bremen Sr. Citizens and Lancaster Friendly Sixties. He loved playing games with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Ruth Sholl Friel; 4 children, Michael (Julie) of Texas, Dixie Lee (Fred) of Logan, Mickie (Darrell) of Mt. Vernon and Tracy at home; 2 step-sons, Steve (Jan) of Lancaster and Jeff (Pam) Sholl of Bremen; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosalie; his parents; and 2 sisters, Marjorie Carpenter and Marie Hanning; and 3 infant brothers.
A time to visit with Mike’s family will be Friday from 2 -4 and 6 – 8 PM at the Morgan Funeral Home, Bremen. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 AM in the funeral home with Rev. Gary Clum officiating. Interment will follow at New Lexington Cemetery.
