Meredith Stanley Vance, 95, of Lancaster, went home to be with his Lord, Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the Pickering House. He was born June 22, 1921 in Vinton County, Ohio. Meredith was married to Florence Isabella Vance for 74 years. He was a wonderful husband and provider. He was a longtime member of the Bremen Holiness Church.
Meredith spent most of his years of employment in retail furniture. He had a furniture store in the 100 block of West Main Street in Lancaster. He then went in partnership with his brother Lou Vance and built and operated Colonial Heights Furniture. He sold his partnership and went into partnership with a brother-in-law, Henry Leach. They started Vance-Leach Home Furnishings in Athens. He drove every work day from Lancaster to Athens till he retired.
Meredith is survived by his; son, James M. (Sylvia) of Lancaster; his sister, Ruth Maloney; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Florence I. Vance; siblings; and his beloved grandson, James S. Vance.
Friends and family may call Friday from 6 – 8 PM at the Bremen Holiness Church, 1300 Mt. Zwingli Road SE, Bremen. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 AM in the church with Rev. Roger Hatfield officiating. Graveside services will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster. Online condolences at
