Melvin Clyde Dixon, 78, died peacefully Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at his home. He was born December 13, 1938 in Pike County, Ohio to Clyde and Gracie Bell Dixon. Mel was a veteran of the United States Army and served 4 years in the Air Force Reserves. He retired from Navistar in 1999. He attended Woodside Church of Christ In Christian Union. He loved and was very proficient in archery, hunting and fishing.
Mel is survived by his wife, Ruth Dixon; children, Michael (Nancy) Dixon, Steve (Cyndi) Dixon, David (Lea) Dixon and Jennifer (Rock) Musick; grandchildren, Nicole (Keller) Staubes, Jeffrey Dixon, Daniel (Kate) Dixon, Alaina Daniels, Haley, Baley, David, and Emmalea Dixon, and Christa (Bobby) Feeser; great-grandchildren, Emmalynn, Jase, Carrie, Tripp and Jordyn; sisters, Thelma, Hazel, Mary and Linda (Tom); brother-in-law, Jack Williams; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Lawrence Kelly and Richard Thatcher. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, V. Ruth Williams.
A funeral service will be held Monday, June 26 at 10 AM at Woodside CCCU, Springfield with one hour visitation before the service. An additional service will be held at 2:30 PM at Bethel Chapel CCCU near Waverly, Ohio. Graveside services will follow at Bethel Cemetery. Online condolences at
