Melba Fern (Sipos) Sheets, 70, born on September 18th, 1944 in Fairport Harbor, OH to the late Frank &Lucille Sipos, departed on her journey to meet The Lord, Jesus Christ on February 17th, 2015, the hour of 12:20pm while at her home in Lancaster, OH with her caretaker & husband of 51 years, her daughter and friends close by her side.
She is survived by her husband Walter Leroy, daughters, Cheryl Lynn Sheets & Rebecca Marie Sheets Chandler (Christopher) , and sisters, Carma Rowles & Loretta Frazier (Garry).
Melba was the proud Grandmother of five grandchildren; Justin Sheets, Nathan Sheets, Jaimee Lynn Berry, Isaac Chandler & little Isaiah Chandler. Her oldest Grandson, Justin, gave her four great-grandchildren, Tony, Videl, Kayliegh, and Janae. In addition, Melba is survived by her favorite Aunt, Mary Murray and many nieces and nephews.
As a graduate of Rushville Union High School, Melba married Walter on June 22nd, 1963. Thereafter, she was soon blessed with her first two children, whom just so happened to be born in the same year. Her youngest daughter came into her life 16 years after her first child was born. Always a full timeMother, together Melba & Walter made a very special family.
In her younger years, Melba greatly enjoyed drawing, painting, spending time with friends and taking long trips with her husband Walter on their motorcycle. She loved music and dancing, gardening and working with flowers. She was also an avid reader who especially enjoyed mystery
novels. She was a home maker and had also worked as a nurses aid for quite some time along with a few other small jobs along the years. She would always show concern for others before herself. Especially in her last years.
Melba was preceded in death by her parents; eldest son, Shawn Michael Sheets; and brothers, Donny Frank, Denzil Lee and Larry Wade Sipos.
The family extends a special thanks to the FairHoPe Hospice team, Pastor Kermit Welty, Dr. David M.Scoggins and to special friends and caregivers, Jennifer and Angela to whom she had become very close.
A time to visit with Melba’s family will be Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Morgan Funeral Home, Bremen. Funeral services will take place Saturday at 10 AM at the Grace Lutheran Church, Rushville with Pastor Chuck Wheatley and Pastor Karen Martin Kepner officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery, Bremen.
