Maurice Nicholas Winegardner

Nick Winegardner, 82, of Lancaster, died Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Fairfield Medical Center. He was born in Lancaster, Ohio on Christmas Day 1943 the son of the late Maurice Joseph and Ella Marie (Thomas) Winegardner.

Nick was retired from Lancaster Glass following 40 years service. He also worked for Richland Township in the zoning department retiring in December 2025 following 35 years of service. He was a lifelong active member of Oakthorpe Church serving in various capacities through the years but mainly as worship leader for 60 years.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Louise (Hartranft) Winegardner, whom he married April 12, 1964; 3 sons, David (Brenda) Winegardner, Todd (Marlene) Winegardner and Bruce (Victoria) Winegardner; 7 grandchildren, Brice, Paige, Seth (Anne), Zachary (Kaitlyn), Brooke, Drake and Dane; sister, Joy Weber; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A time to visit with Nick's family will be Saturday, May 2nd from 10 - 12 at the Oakthorpe Church, 6075 Oakthorpe Road NE, Thornville, Ohio. Funeral services will follow at 12 PM with Pastor Mel Truex officiating. Graveside services will follow at Oakthorpe Cemetery. Contributions in Nick's memory may be made to the Oakthorpe Church or Richland Township Fire Dept.
