Mary Lois Howdyshell
January 6, 1929 — October 5, 2024
Our loving mother, Mary Lois (Haines) Howdyshell, entered the gates of heaven at the age of 95 on Saturday, October 5, 2024 in Lancaster, Ohio.
Mom was born on January 6, 1929 in Pickaway County, Ohio. When she was 17 years old she married our father, Alvin Winfield Howdyshell. Married for 74 years, Mom and Dad raised 6 children, Lois, Nina, Beth, Judy, Lori and Alvin Jr. Mom possessed a true servants heart. She faithfully cared for her family through her cooking/baking, sewing and gardening. A woman of faith, who constantly put the needs of others before her own and shaped the hearts of many by her godly example.
Surviving family members are daughters, Lois Huston, Nina (Rod) Stoltz, Beth (Rod) Schultz, Judy (Tim) Mason, Lori (Ron) Osborn; son, Alvin Jr. (Rochelle) Howdyshell; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandsons; sisters-in-law, Wanda Grimm and Nellie Morgan; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death is her husband, Alvin; infant son, Mark; mother, Pluma (Ours) Haines; father, Virgil Taft Haines; sister, JoAnn Brown; son-in-law, Ronnie Huston; infant grandson, Andy Mason; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.
Mom’s funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 12 PM at Salem Chapel Church, 3975 Marietta Road SW, Junction City, OH with Pastor Joe Leighton officiating. Visiting hours will be prior to the service from 10 AM - 12 PM. Graveside services will follow at Grandview Cemetery, Bremen, OH.
Our family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support from so many during this difficult time. To the staff at Main Street Terrace, where Mom spent her final years, we cannot thank you enough for loving our mother and taking care of her as if she was your own. We saw the love you showed her and we know she loved you too. We laughed together at her orneriness and cried together when she passed. We truly appreciate you being with us during her final hour, caring for her needs and ours.
