Mary Catherine (Bell) Brown, 88, went home to be with our Lord, February 24, 2016. Mary was born on January 7, 1928, near Bremen, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Bell and Irene (Sherlock) Bell, her husband of 39 yrs, Russell P. Brown; sisters, Audrey (Claude) Wolfe and Jane (Luther) Herron; 2 grandchildren, Jessica Huston (Wayne) Harrah, Stori Huston Raver; and great-grandchild, MacKenzie Ogle. She is lovingly survived by 6 children, Larry (Linda) Brown, Martha (Darrell) Huston, John (Gloria) Brown, Melinda (Kevin) Strohl, Phyllis (Greg) Levy and Jennifer (Mike) Jarvis; 11 grandchildren, Katie (Mike) Perez, John (Julie) Brown, Jeannie (Jerry) Jones, Regina (Craig) Morgan, Misti (Travis) Rife, Denise (Dustin) Hatfield, Crystal Downs, Russell (Randi) Brown, Kanda Strohl, Cassie Waugh, and Nate (Adrienne) Lemley; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Grace (Jim) Hurley; sister-in-law, Sarah Hoover; nieces, nephews and special friends at LanFair Rehabilitation Ctr.
Mary was a graduate (class valedictorian) of New Straitsville High School, and worked at home raising her children, planting & harvesting a big garden and keeping the farm & kids in line while her husband worked for VN Holderman Paving. Mary was a Wonderful cook and baker as many can attest, and enjoyed making bread, pies and cinnamon rolls for her family, neighbors and to sell at the Logan Farmers Market. She passed this love of baking on to her family. She was so proud of her family's accomplishments and that she had family members who had served in the US Armed Forces. She loved music, her hymns, and cheered for Buckeyes basketball. She attended Ebenezer Baptist Church in Maxville. Her service to others demonstrated her love of Christ.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Feb, 28 from 4 - 8 pm and Monday, Feb 29 from 10-11 am at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, 6935 Township Rd 234, Logan, OH. Funeral services will take place at the church at 11 AM with Pastor Steve Hubbard officiating. Graveside services will follow at Friendship Cemetery.
