Marjorie Heyd McCandlish, 94, affectionately known as Grammy passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 with her family at her side. She was born July 4, 1923 in Bremen, Ohio with her twin sister, Marcella to the late George and Meda (Blosser) Heyd.
She graduated in 1941 from Rushcreek Memorial High School in Bremen. She was a retired glass cutter at Anchor Hocking in Bremen and a wonderful homemaker. She was a longtime member of Bremen Jerusalem Church and a member of Farm Bureau #36.
She is survived by her daughters, Maylou (Guy) O’Neil of Carroll Ohio , Joyce (W. David) Mohler and Marcia (Chip) Friesner, both of the Bremen area; seven grandchildren, Megan Linkinhoker, Melissa (Aaron) Williams, Melanie (Darren) Morgan, Jared (Jamie) Friesner, Justin (Kasey) Friesner, Jonathan (Jess) Friesner and Jena (Jake)Kemmerer; 15 great-grandchildren, Hadley and Piper Linkinhoker, Kyla and Braylon Williams, Brody, Brock and Alexis Morgan, Jackson, Harper and Emmalyn Friesner, Charlotte and Eliza Friesner, Levi Friesner and Jorie and Josie Kemmerer; step-grandson, David (Samantha) Mohler; 3 step-grandchildren, Sarah, Chelsea and Logan Mohler; and 1 great-great grandson, Finley Mohler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford on February 4, 2009; brother, Dwight and sister-in-law, Clara Heyd; sister, Lucille and brother-in-law, Harry Derflinger and twin sister, Marcella and brother-in-law, Marion Hanson; infant grandson; and infant great-grandson Trayton Williams.
Marjorie was raised with faith and family and she and her husband raised their three daughters with those same values. Marjorie's devotion to family took many forms, including conversations around the dinner table, endless worry and concern for health, happiness and safety of others' and quiet, patient support for her children and grandchildren as they each made their way through life. Humble, selfless and kind, Marjorie was blessed to be surrounded with love of family and God, and her family was likewise blessed to know and feel her love for them. Her family would like to give special thanks to her home caregivers, Carol, Donna and Cheryl, the staff of Fairhope Hospice, Home Instead and Main Street Terrace for the excellent care they gave to Mom, Grandma and Grammy.
A time to visit with the family will be Tuesday, April 17th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Morgan Funeral Home, 124 Fort St. Bremen, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 18th at 10:00 am at Bremen Jerusalem Church with Pastor Gary Clum and her grandson, Pastor Jonathan Friesner officiating.
