Loren E. Lonberger
April 10, 1933 — July 15, 2018
Loren E. Lonberger, 85, born April 10, 1933 in Glouster, Ohio, died Sunday, July 15, 2018 in Carroll, Ohio. Survived by Marjory, his loving wife of 65 years; children, Susan (Scott) Douglas, Ashville, OH and Carol (Mark) Burns, Canal Winchester, OH; grandchildren, Kevin (Mackinzie) Douglas, Andrew (Julie) Burns and Alyssa Burns; great-granddaughter, Caroline Grace. Preceded in death by parents, Willard and Flossie Lonberger; and sister, Wanda Harre.
Loren was a graduate of Ohio University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He served on active duty in the Army during the Korean Conflict and later served as a Captain in the Ohio Army National Guard.
He taught school at Tallmadge Elementary and General Sherman Jr. High School. Later was principal at Cedar Heights Elementary and General Sherman Jr. High School. Also, was High School Principal at Coshocton High School and from 1970 – 1985 was Assistant Superintendent /Business Manager for the Lancaster City Schools. Following retirement from education, Loren was an investment broker for Advest, Inc. in Lancaster.
He was past president of the Lancaster Kiwanis Club, past member of the YMCA Board and the United Way of Fairfield County.
He was past president of the Lancaster Classroom Teachers’ Association and the Lancaster Association of School Administrators. Past member of many other educational organizations.
Presently a member of the Bremen United Methodist Church. Also, a member of Lancaster Masonic Lodge #57.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 AM at the Bremen United Methodist Church with Pastor Linda Ward officiating.
