Judith Kay “Judy” (Colby) Stemen, 83, of Lancaster, went home to her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the Pickering House. She was born September 9, 1940 in Olean, New York the daughter of George W. and Katherine (Sprague) Colby.
Prior to moving to this area from Hardin County, Judy worked as a physical therapist at hospitals in Kenton and Findlay. Upon arrival in the Fairfield County area she was the only physical therapist within a 5 county area. She operated her PT Clinic for 15 years and provided home health care services for another 4 years through her company TLC. She wrote poetry and was a volunteer at FMC where she was fondly known as the Autoharp Lady. Judy has been a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church since 2013.
Judy is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ray Stemen, whom she married June 17, 1961; children, Rick (Kutz) Stemen and Deb (Michael) Parrish; grandsons, Drew and Ian (Kelsey) Parrish; brother, Rich (Linda) Colby; sister, Carol (George) Chitty; brother-in-law, Will (Karis) Stemen; sisters-in-law, Mary Diller and Grace Foraker; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Ray’s parents, Elmer (Harriet) Stemen and brothers-in-law, Robert (Leola) Stemen and Dave Diller.
A time to visit with Judy’s family will be Tuesday, April 23rd from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, 6935 Twp Rd 234, Logan, OH. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 PM in the church with Pastor Steve Hubbard officiating. Graveside services will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery.
