James Franklin Scholl, 93, of Lancaster, died Monday, November 20, 2017 at his home. He was born July 31, 1924 in Lancaster, Ohio the son of David E. and Edna F. (Ruff) Scholl. He was a 1942 graduate of Lancaster High School and spent his life doing what he loved – designing and building equipment for the farm. Jim was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and faithfully attended First Presbyterian Church, Lancaster for over 60 years, after he married his bride, Mary Edith. He and Mary Edith thoroughly enjoyed being a part of their Farm Bureau Council Card Club for almost 40 years.
Jim is survived by his sons, Mike (Becky) and Mark (Julia) Scholl; grandchildren, Jason Scholl, Jennifer (Shane) Sowers; Mary Kate and Emily Scholl; great-grandson, Lee Michael Sowers; brother, Neil Scholl; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Edith (Miller) Scholl in 1992; sisters, Helen Beery, Irene Hoffman and Lucille Beery; and brother, Karl Scholl.
A time to visit with Jim’s family will be Friday, December 1 from 4 – 8 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1965 Lutheran Church Road SE, Lancaster. Funeral service will take place Saturday, December 2 at the church at noon with one hour prior visitation. Rev. Dr. Merlin Seitz will be officiating. Cremation has taken place and private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to all of the caring staff of FairHoPe Hospice.
