James Raymond Matz

James Raymond Matz, 80, of Lancaster, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the Pickering House. He was born April 25, 1938 in Lancaster, Ohio the son of Raymond Matz and Maxine Nixon. Jim was a 1958 graduate of Lancaster High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. He had worked at Ralston Foods retiring in 1999. Jim was a member of Word of Promise Family Church in Lancaster.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sandy L. (McNichols) Matz, whom he married September 20, 1990; children, Vicky Fitzgerald, Derk (Jenn) Matz; step-children, Chip (Julie) Offers and Holly (Jon) Sherrick; 5 grandchildren; Heather (Cody), Drew (Jamie), Sean, Troy (Katie) and Kyle (Sara); 6 great-grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren, Nic, Tia (John), Becky (John), Chelsea, Tyler, Morgan, Chris (Annie) and Matt (Erin); 8 step- great grandchildren, including John and Kam who lived with Grandpa and Grandma; his Aunt Leona “Boots” Bonato ; brother, Richard (Judith) Matz; sisters, Judie (Charles) Dennison, Carol (Gary) Carpenter and Carla (Nelson) Hicks; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Connie North.
A time to visit with Jim’s family will take place Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 10 AM – 12 PM at the Word of Promise Family Church, 350 Park Street, Lancaster, Ohio.
