James Joseph Kunkler, 86, of Bremen, died Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Fairfield Medical Center. He was born June 4, 1926 in Lancaster, Ohio the son of the late Joseph Edward and Blanche Lenore (Thimmes) Kunkler. Jim was a lifelong resident of Fairfield County. He had worked for 10 years with his brother, Pete in construction and served as superintendent of Grandview Cemetery. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bremen, the Knights of Columbus and Rushcreek Golf Club. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Marcia Ann “Pat” Kunkler whom he married June 4, 1949; children, Dane (Elizabeth) Kunkler, Mary (Sherm) Prince, Marsha Kunkler, David (Stacey) Kunkler and Daniel (Carrie) Kunkler; siblings, Margaret Turner, Leo (Helen) Kunkler, Barbara (Ralph) Riddlebarger, Paul “Pete” (Irene) Kunkler and Patrick (Jean) Kunkler; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a brother, Richard Kunkler; and grandson, Kyle David Kunkler. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 8th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Morgan Funeral Home, 124 Fort Street, Bremen. A funeral mass will take place Thursday at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bremen. Graveside services will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
