James E. Gornall, 78, went home to his Heavenly Father on Christmas Day.
Jim is survived by his wife of 59 ½ years, Gloria (Burnworth) Gornall; 4 children, Kim (Greg) Hockman, Kathy (Gary) Maccombs, Jim (Janeen) Gornall and Traci (Mike) Lowe; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Ann Foraker; mother-in-law, Geraldine Burnworth; sister-in-law, Lois (Steve) McNeal; brother-in-law, Terry (Shirley) Burnworth; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Marie (Lori) Gornall; father-in-law, Donald E. Burnworth; brother, John Gornall; and brother-in-law, Carl Foraker.
Jim was born December 20, 1942 in Columbus. He was a 1960 graduate of Rushcreek Memorial High School. He married Gloria Burnworth on June 17, 1961. Jim was a truck driver for Putnam Transfer for 25 years, then with Alvan Motor Freight for 5 years, from which he retired in 1999. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, gardening, hunting, cooking/smoking meat and feeding his birds.
He was a longtime member of Avlon United Brethren Church. After moving to Lancaster, he attended First Baptist Church.
Calling hours will be Monday, December 28th from 5 – 8 PM at Morgan Funeral Home, Bremen. Due to covid 19, masks must be worn and social distancing observed. A private family service will be held Tuesday at Avlon UB Church with graveside services following at Grandview Cemetery. Rev. Chuck Wheatley and Greg Hockman will be officiating.
