James Thomas Allender, 77, of Springfield, died peacefully Thursday, December 29, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born June 26, 1939, in Medway, Ohio the son of Roy and Alma (Arnett) Allender. Jim spent his entire career as a heating and cooling guy. He installed units for Brockman Furnace Company until he retired in 1998. He loved building and restoring vintage cars from the 1930’s through the 1960’s and was a member of Independent Cruisers Car Club. In recent years, he became a fisherman and enjoyed spending time fishing.
He is survived by 2 caring and loving sons, Rick (Mindy) Allender of Urbana and Kevin (Amy) Allender of Springfield; 1 brother, John Allender; 2 grandchildren, Megan Allender and Cooper Allender; and several nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Ernest and Paul Allender; sister, Margaret Ann; and special sister-in-law, Faye Allender.
A time to visit with Jim’s family will take place Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 9:30 till 11:30 in The Woodside Ave. Church of Christ in Christian Union, Springfield. Funeral services will follow at 11:30. Internment will take place at the convenience of the family in Fairfield Cemetery, Fairborn, Ohio. Online condolences at
