Jackie Stemen Schmelzer, 72, of Crossenville, near Bremen, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010 in Lancaster. She was born September 1, 1937 in Columbus, Ohio the daughter of Oren and Mary (Keller) Stemen. She was a 1955 graduate of Junction City Jackson High School. She was a member and served in various offices of the Junction City Jackson High School Alumni Association and was president for the past three years. Jackie was a past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Bremen, where she held several offices and has served for many years on the Perry County Board of Elections.
She is survived by her four children, Angie (Steve) Howell, Kim (Jodi) Stemen, Mark Stemen and Lisa (Dave) Yarbrough; grandchildren, Barry (Ashley) Kilbarger, Jarrod Stemen, Lucas Stemen, Brittany, Bethany and Brianna Hollingsworth, Crystal (Justin ) Kerns and the apple of her eye, Tyler Yarbrough; great -grandchildren, Abby and Olivia Kerns and Abby Lecrone. Lifelong friends Patsy Deavers , Lovina Throckmorton and her beloved cat “Frosty”. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may visit with the family Monday, May 31, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Morgan Funeral Home, 124 Fort St. Bremen. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 PM
with the Rev. Joe Leighton officiating. Burial will follow in the Grandview Cemetery.
