Hazel Mae VanHorn, age 92 of Bremen, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Buckeye Care and Rehabilitation in Lancaster. Hazel was born February 10, 1930, in Bremen, daughter of the late George and Goldie (Newman) Hockman. She enjoyed her home and was steadfast on the farm for all of her adult life. She loved her farm animals, cows and dogs, and although she fed the cats, they weren’t allowed in the house.
She is survived by her sons, David Lee (Mary) VanHorn, of Lorain, and James (Patricia) VanHorn, of Bremen; grandchildren, Zack (Katie) VanHorn, Ashley Fortcamp, Brittney (Cameron) Owens, Russell (Jessica) VanHorn, Amy Shonebarger, Crystal (Shawn) Myers, and Gary (Tara) Hughes; and great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Madison, Brooklyn, Carter, Bentley, Gabriella, Bexley, Camdon, Jackson, Berkley, Emily, Joey, Sami, Robert, Russell, Avery, and Kylie. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 55 years, Russell VanHorn; son, Robert E. VanHorn; brother, Donald Hockman; and sister, Rheabelle Glidden.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at the Morgan Funeral Home, 124 Fort St., Bremen, with Pastor James Dexter officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
