Gregory Martin Watson (54), better known to most as Marty, passed away on May 22, 2026 in Sugar Grove, OH. His loss is felt deeply by all who loved him, and his absence leaves a space that cannot be filled.

Born to Mefford "Wayne" and Lillie "Jill" Watson, Marty lived a life of courage, curiosity, and a relentless drive to push beyond the ordinary. From an early age, he was drawn to adrenaline-fueled pursuits, from racing dirt bikes in his youth to serving as a volunteer firefighter and with the emergency medical service to later becoming a big game hunter, an accomplished deep-sea scuba diver, cave and aquifer diver, and a motorcycle racer. These passions weren't hobbies to him - they were expressions of his spirit, his discipline, and his desire to experience life fully.

Recently, Marty had returned to motorcycle racing with a renewed focus and was excelling, finding joy, purpose, and community in the sport he loved most.

Marty is survived by his devoted wife, Renee; his daughters, Shay (Rayne) Lythjohan and Jade (Bryce) Long; his grandsons Henry Long, and Baby Boy Lythjohan expected later this year; a step-daughter, Madison (Jordan) Lash and a step-son, Andrew Tashbar Jr. (girlfriend Taylor). He is also survived by his parents, Wayne and Jill Watson; his siblings, Steven (Sarah) Watson Sr., Courtney (Jonathan) Rothwell, Nicholas (Elizabeth) Watson, close cousin Travis (Lori) Burchett, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will carry his memory forward.

Marty's life was marked by intensity, generosity, and a deep love for the people closest to him. As a proud Master Mason, Marty lived by the principles of brotherly love, belief, and truth. His family will remember him for his adventurous spirit and the way his face lit up when talking about a great dive or an intense race. But nothing beat his smile when he was with his grandson and little nieces and nephews. The pride and love he felt for his girls and the joy of grandchildren were the light of Marty's life.

A private memorial will take place at the family cemetery in Wallingford, KY. A celebration of life / open house will follow on Saturday, Jun 6, 2026 at his parents' home in Peebles, OH 5:00-7:00 pm.
