George Milton Rowe, 98, of Hide Away Hills, died Friday, November 25, 2016 at the Pickering House. He was born October 1, 1918 in Dayton, Ohio the son of George W. and Mildred (Bachman) Rowe. The world just lost a good man but he was blessed to go and be with Mom; and that’s what he wanted. He was married to Gladys Lucille “Blue eyes” for 73 years. He is survived by 5 sons, Milton George, David Hugo, Phillip John, Gregory Alan and Jeffrey Steven; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was a born leader, a wonderful father, grandfather and provider – our patriarch. George was a 1936 graduate of Bexley High School and a 1942 graduate of Ohio State University. He was a veteran of the United States Army, 1st Lieutenant in the Transportation Corp, 101st Airborne Division, serving in World War II. He was president of Aller and Sharp Trucking Company and Ask Leasing Inc.. He was a longtime resident of Hide Away Hills, serving many years on the board of directors, including 5 years as president, and serving as trustee emeritus until his death. He was a HAH real estate broker after retirement. He had served as the Rushcreek Twp. Zoning Inspector, president of Fairfield County Regional Planning Commission, the Southeast Ohio Sight Center, Emmanuel Lutheran Church council, Bremen Senior Citizens and on served on the board of directors at Workforce Services Unlimited. A memorial service will take place Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 2 PM in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 29439 Hideaway Hills Road, Logan, Ohio 43138 with Rev. Heinz Reidel officiating.
