Gail Edwin “Woody” Wood, 95, of Pleasantville, died peacefully at his home on Friday, February 3, 2017. He was born November 15, 1921 in Pleasantville, Ohio the son of George Edward and Gaie Lucille (Buchanan) Wood. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign during WWII. He was the produce manager for IGA grocery for 32 years. He was a lifetime member of the Lancaster Pistol and Rifle Association and served on the Hampson Cemetery board for many years. He enjoyed his muzzleloaders, finishing wood and woodworking.
Woody is survived by the true love of his life, Patricia Nan (Winland) Wood, whom he married on December 3, 1988; step-children, Ronald Keith Green, Connie (Paul) Green-Litzinger and Lori Ann Green; 2 step-grandchildren; 7 great-stepchildren; sister, Georgia Brenner; sisters-in-law, Ann (Bill) Nutter and Molly (Don) Hampshire; brother-in-law, Brad (Cindy) Winland; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roland Wood; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Wood; and brother-in-law, William Brenner.
A memorial service will take place Thursday at 10 AM with one hour prior visitation at the Pleasantville United Methodist Church with Pastor Vera Welker officiating. Graveside and military services will follow at Hampson Cemetery, Pleasantville.
