Everett W. “Jake” Van Meter, 97, of Bremen, passed away on March 6, 2018. He was born September 30, 1920 in Meigs County, Ohio to the late Earl and Myrtle (Young) Van Meter.
Jake was retired from Bremen Mfg. Co. and during retirement could be found mowing lawns or plowing snow on his yard tractor all over Bremen. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the European Theater during WWII.
He is survived by his daughter, Charlotte (Dan) Bigham; son, Ronald “Jake” Van Meter; grandchildren, Joe (Dallas) Clark, Jeff Clark, Kelli (Jeff) Rowley, Kyle (Rachel) Bigham, Karl Yost, Jason Van Meter, Cory (Janet) Bell and Kali Sheumaker; many great – grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pat Moury; nieces and nephews and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mable (Hickman) Van Meter; son, Thomas; infant son, Paul; infant twins, Donald and Donna; four brothers; and four sisters.
The family will receive friends Friday from 4 – 8 PM at the Morgan Funeral Home, 124 Fort Street, Bremen, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 PM in the funeral home with Jake’s grandson, Rev. Joe Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery, Bremen.
