J. Elaine Bell, 86, of Crossenville, passed away Friday, December 24, 2010 at Crestview Nursing Home, Lancaster. She was born April 26, 1924 in Bremen, Ohio the daughter of Henry and Mary (Heinzman) Stoltz. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Jane Bell of Columbus; and two sisters, Geneva Williams of Bremen and Janice Hummell of Papillion, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Rolland “Mike” Bell in April 1977. Elaine was a member of Salem Chapel United Brethren Church near Junction City where she served on the church board and was Sunday School Secretary for 14 years. She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the 8 and 40, and a member of the Bremen Area Historical Society. She was a 1941 graduate of Rushcreek Memorial High School, retired from Fairfield Union School District after 24 years of service, where she received an honorary diploma. Elaine was active in many bowling leagues and was inducted into the Zanesville Bowling Hall of Fame. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 2:30 pm in Grandview Cemetery with Pastor Joe Leighton officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Elaine’s memory to Salem Chapel or the American Diabetes Association.
