Douglas Merton Raymer, 91, of Thornville, died peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, June 16, 2017. He was born March 12, 1926 in Vermontville, Michigan. Doug was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in WWII in the Asiatic Pacific Area. He started Tansky’s Auto Supermart in Lancaster, where he was general manager and salesman for many years. He was also the owner of Circleville Motor Sales. Doug attended Drumms Luteran Church.
He is survived by his children, Thomas “TC” (Cindy) Raymer and Cindy (Dwight) Andrews; sister, Pat Carey; 3 grandchildren, Shannon (Leah) and Aaron ( DeeAna) Raymer and Rikki Lee (Shawn) McClaskey; 8 great-grandchildren, Eli, Noah, Azure, Paislee, Brecken, Truitt, Harrison and Madalynn; and a niece, Sandy Fife. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Boyd Raymer; and his wife, Eileen (Alspaugh) Raymer.
A visitation will be Friday from 6 – 8 PM at the Morgan Funeral Home, Bremen. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 AM at Drumms Lutheran Church, 8995 Drums Bottom Road NE, Thornville with Rev. David Bugh officiating. Graveside and military honors will follow at Drumms Cemetery. Contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Morgan Funeral Home, 124 Fort Street, Bremen, Ohio 43107 to assist with funeral expenses.
