Donald D. Hockman, 87, of Jacksonville, Florida, formerly of Bremen, passed away at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida after an extended illness.
Don was born December 29, 1925 near Bremen, Ohio. He was the son of George and Goldie Hockman.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janet, daughter Donna (Steve) Mull of Jacksonville, Florida, beloved granddaughters Jennifer and Jana Mull, and sister, Hazel Van Horn. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Rheabelle Glidden.
Don served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1956.
He was a farmer in the Bremen area all his life until he retired 2 years ago due to ill health. Don will also be remembered as a school bus driver for the Bremen Schools, and then for Fairfield Union Schools when Bremen, Rushville and Pleasantville were consolidated into one school district. He served as a bus driver for a total of 40 years.
Visitation will take place Thursday, April 25 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM at Morgan Funeral Home, 124 Fort Street, Bremen. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 10 AM in the funeral home with Rev. Raymond Sharritts officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
