Clarice Alberta Thomas, 85, of Bremen, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010 in her home. She was born January 22, 1925 in Fairfield County, Ohio the daughter of the late Jonas and Iva Marie (Turkenton) Vandermark. She was a member of the Bremen United Methodist Church where she was active for many years as a Sunday School Teacher, in the Women’s Society and as an organizer of the Annual Steak Dinner. Clarice is survived by six children, Clara Jean Wentz (Jim Bowes), Wanda Mae Snyder and fiance’ Forrest Turner, Harley Bryan (Rebecca Anne) Thomas, Rebecca Sue (Stephen) Pontious, Jeffery Luther (Pamela) Thomas and Janet Lynn (David) Gross; brother, Jonas Junior Vandermark; sister, Madge Eileen Plank; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Luther Thomas in 1983; four brothers and three sisters. A gathering of family and friends will take place Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Morgan Funeral Home, 124 Fort Street, Bremen. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 AM in the Bremen United Methodist Church with Pastor Deborah Nance officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Clarice’s memory to Bremen United Methodist Church.
