Carl David Strohmeyer

Carl David Strohmeyer, 93, of Rushville, Ohio died Monday, February 9, 2026 at Main Street Terrace Care Center. He was born March 22, 1932 in Newark, Ohio to the late Charles Robert and Mary (Gardner) Strohmeyer. 

David attended Rushville High School. He worked 30 years for Anchor Hocking Plant 2, retiring in 1987, in order to support his passion for farming and horses. He was a member of the Farm Bureau Council #21. He was an active member of Gold Ring Road Riders, Chapter X of Nelsonville and Chapter F-3 of Lancaster. Carl was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bremen and then attended St. Bernadette Parish.

David is survived by his wife of 68 years, Esther (Fox) Strohmeyer, whom he married April 27, 1957; sons, Karl (Joyce) Strohmeyer of Brewster, NY and Charles (Geraldine) Strohmeyer of Lancaster; 3 grandchildren, Michael and Audrey Strohmeyer and Kristina (Steven) Reynard; 4 great-grandchildren, Aria, Molly, Logan and Jaycie; brother-in-law, Joe (Sue) Fox; and sisters-in-law, Margaret Wolfinger and Theresa Juncewicz; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Keith Strohmeyer; grandson, Charles Robert Strohmeyer III; sisters-in-law, Mary Louise (Raymond) Hyme, Anita (Robert) Fox and Mary Ellen Fox; and brothers-in-law, Frank (Ann) Fox and Raymond (Sue) Fox.

A funeral mass will be held Monday, February 16, 2026 at 10 AM at St. Bernadette's Parish, 1343 Wheeling Road NE, Lancaster, Ohio. There will be a visitation from 9 am - 10 AM. Graveside services will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Bremen. Contributions may be made in David's memory to Hospice of Central Ohio.
