Betty Lou South, 82, of Lancaster, died Wednesday, May 09, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 15, 1930 in South Zanesville, Ohio the daughter of the late Carl Edward and Minnie (Nelson) South. Betty worked for Irving Drew Shoe Company as a shoe fitter. She is survived by sons, Tommy Knisley of Somerset, James Starkey Jr., Ronald (Crystal) Matthews and Richard Matthews Jr. all of Lancaster; daughters, Sandra Travis of Lancaster, Helen Crockett of Lancaster, Carla( John Wedge of Fostoria and Jeannie Houdeshell of Newark; brother, John (Tenina) South; 4 sisters, Mona Denner, Ann Mathias, Helen Coak and Evelyn “Kandie” Meadows; 24 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and 2 sisters. The family would like to especially thank Fair HoPe Hospice and Betty’s special nurse Norma for all of their comforting words and deeds. Friends may visit with the family Monday, May 14, 2012, from 11 AM -1PM in the Morgan Funeral Home, 124 Fort St. Bremen, Ohio. Funeral services will follow at 1:00PM with Rev. Marvin Shipman officiating. Burial will take place in Floral Hills Memory Garden. Donations may be made to Morgan Funeral Home to help with the funeral expense.
