Ambrose Eugene Schmelzer, 90, of Bremen died Saturday, September 12, 2026. He was born September 5, 1936 in Bremen, Ohio the son of Henry Vincent and Frances Elizabeth (Kunkler) Schmelzer. 

Ambrose was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean Conflict. He was the long-time owner of Bremen Meats and was retired from Cyril-Scott. He was a member of Avlon United Brethren Church.

Ambrose is preceded in death by his first wife, Elda Mae (Stoltz) Schmelzer; 2nd wife, Patsy Lee (Barton) Schmelzer; brothers, Walter, Joseph and Charles Schmelzer; sisters, Mary (Hartman) and Josephine Schmelzer; brothers-in-law, Samuel Hartman, William Kruse and Richard Waits; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy "Dottie" Schmelzer. He is survived by his children, Lucinda "Cindy" Hiles, Timothy Richard (Linda Morgan) Schmelzer and Jeffrey Lynn (Dena Johnson) Schmelzer; step-children, Robert "Bob" (Stephanie), Timothy (Renee) and Jeffrey (Wendy) Barton; sisters, Elizabeth "Betty Kruse" Shull and Marcella Waits; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members; and his beloved dog, Sophie. 

A time to visit with Ambrose's family will be Thursday, September 17th from 5 - 8 PM at Morgan Funeral Home, Bremen. Graveside and military honors will be Friday, September 18th at 10 AM at Mt. Zion UB Cemetery, near Junction City, Ohio.
