BREMEN: Marion “Jack” L. Thomas, 82, of Bremen, passed away peacefully at his Bremen home, lovingly surrounded by family on January 8, 2016. A farmer’s son, Jack was born July 14, 1933 on Thomas Road, Bremen to the late Harry and Ethel (Moyer) Thomas. He was a 1952 graduate of Rushcreek Memorial High School, Bremen, exceling in sports and FFA. He married Barbara Ann Schaefer October, 16, 1954, raised three children and lived what he called “a great life.” Jack started working for the Pennington Bread Company in 1955, spending 26 years with Pennington and then worked for Conn’s Potato Chip Company 18 years, delivering bread, then potato chips to grocery stores, schools, and restaurants throughout Fairfield, Perry, and Franklin Counties, retiring in 1999. Born and raised on a farm, Jack loved to farm his three farms outside of Bremen, raise livestock, and ride his horses. Early in life he enjoyed playing pool, basketball, and bowling. Later, his passion was riding his motorcycle, riding with wife Barbara all over Ohio and throughout the US. His greatest joy was his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Barbara Thomas; daughter Cinda Thomas; sons Tim (Lori) Thomas and Randy Thomas; grandchildren Kendall (Ryan) Foster, Ashley (Randy) Hall, Matt Thomas, Chance (Courtney)Thomas, Brandon Thomas, and Chad Thomas; great grandchildren Makala, Rylyn, and Luke Foster, Ayden and Jaelynn Hall, and Rylan, Bentley and Easton Jack Thomas; sister, Linda (Thomas) Embrey; sister-in-law Eileen Thomas; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and his dog, J.D.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 13 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 PM at the Morgan Funeral Home, Bremen. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jack’s life at his boyhood church, The Rushcreek Presbyterian Church, West Rushville on Thursday, January 14 at 11 AM with a reception following in church basement. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Jack’s name to FairHoPe Hospice and Palliative Care, Vitas Healthcare, the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association.
