Michael David Henwood

Michael D. Henwood, 76, of Bremen, Ohio, passed away at his home on May 6, 2024. Mike
was born on May 16, 1947, the second of four sons born to Alfred and Mary (Isabel) Henwood,
in Lancaster, Ohio.
Mike was a 1965 graduate of Lancaster High School and then joined the United States Air
Force, serving for four years, including a year in Vietnam. Upon his return to Lancaster, Mike
went to work at Anchor Hocking in the sealing machine division. He spent his entire career at
Plant 35, moving up to Plant Manager, then retiring after 47 years of employment.
Outside of his work, Mike was a longtime member of the Bremen Village Council, serving
several terms, before serving as Mayor of Bremen from 2016 until 2019. Mike was also a proud
member of the Bremen Bethel Presbyterian Church.
Mike’s joy, though, was his time spent with his family. Mike and his wife Susan were married for
52 years, with three children (David, Elizabeth, and Molly), but his two grandsons Joshua and
Nicholas brought him his greatest pride and he enjoyed spending his evenings watching them
participate in all their sports and activities.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law (Ralph and Alma), and his
brothers, Douglas and Gregory. He is survived by his wife, Susan; son, David (Jill); daughters
Elizabeth and Molly; his brother, Thomas (Judy); his sister-in-law Janet, his brother-in law and
sister-in-law Jim and Marcia, his grandsons Joshua and Nicholas; and many cousins, nephews,
and nieces.
Calling hours will be held at the Bremen Bethel Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, May 8,
2024, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm and the funeral will be Thursday, May 9,
2024 at the church at 10:00 am, with graveside burial with military honors at Grandview
Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Oscar McVeigh Post #20 American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bremen Bethel Presbyterian Church’s Breakfast
Bag Program, the Fairfield Area Humane Society, or the Fairfield Union Musical.
