Carl Joseph Foraker, 70, passed away July 15, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Carl was born in Noble County, Ohio on July 30, 1941 to the late Joseph Benson and Edna Belle (Sprague) Foraker. Carl retired with 36 years of service from Globe Metallurgical Inc. in Beverly, Ohio. He was an artist working with wood. Owning his own sawmill, he built their home, made beautiful furniture and treated his loved one’s to handmade wooden bowls and other beautiful pieces. Carl’s children and grandchildren were the light of his life, watching them grow into very productive adults. Carl and Ann grew beautiful fruits and vegetable that they loved to share. Carl is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 40 years, Ann Marie (Gornall) Foraker; daughter, Tami (Steve) McCauley, Lancaster; sons, Carl “Eddie” (Karen) Foraker, Foans, Virginia, Donald (Dani) Ashbaugh, Junction City, David (Phoebe) Foraker, Somerset, James (Tyna) Foraker, Blair, Oklahoma and Joseph Carl (Sarah) Foraker, Somerset; grandchildren, Jessica, Jeremy, Devin, Kathryn, Olivia, Samuel, Preston, Kristopher (US Marine), Travis, Benson, Ryan (Leah), Corey, A.J., Tabitha, Joseph Ryan, Isabelle, and Olivia and Mary Ann of Colorado, daughters of Carl’s son, SSgt. Ryan Foraker, US Army, missing since September 24, 2002 from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; great-grandsons, Christopher and Damien Foraker; his “best buddy” Nikki; brothers, Dana (Geneva) Foraker and Dean Foraker, both of Caldwell; Sister, Reva (Paul) Lori, Lancaster; and a host of friends and family including many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Jo (Peters) Foraker; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Delbert Zimmerman; brother, Bernard Foraker; sister-in-law, Erma Foraker, great-nephew, Travis Zimmerman, mother and father-in-law, Carl and Marie Gornall. A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 2 PM in the Morgan Funeral Home, 124 Fort Street, Bremen with Rev. David Hedrick officiating. A time to visit will be held from 1 PM til 2 PM. Cremation to take place with Carl’s ashes to his beloved walnut grove on his farm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to FairHoPe Hospice, 282 Sells Road, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
